15 Ways to Donate in Support of Black Lives & Communities of Color
On May 25, America watched in horror as a police officer murdered an unarmed Black man named George Floyd in Minneapolis. The chilling recording went viral and the country quickly erupted in a public outcry for justice. It wasn’t long before Floyd’s death sparked protests calling for police reform and the end of systemic racism throughout the country, and eventually around the world.
Almost a month has passed since George Floyd’s murder, and as we mourn Floyd and other victims of police brutality, we must continue to reflect on how we can all do our part to create the change in the world we wish to see, no matter our race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or class.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Legal Defense Fund (NAACP LDF) aims to defend, educate, and empower us all. The organization fights each day to secure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights in order to eliminate race-based discrimination and ensure the health and well-being of all persons.
Equal Justice Initiative
The Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) was founded to combat mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the criminal justice system, to prevent racial and economic injustice, and to protect basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in the United States.
Black Lives Matter
The Black Lives Matter organization was founded in 2013 in response to the killing of an unarmed fifteen-year-old Trayvon Martin. Recent events have brought the Black Lives Matter movement back into the global spotlight, and made it stronger than ever. Campaign Zero

The Bail Project
The Bail Project is on a mission to fight mass incarceration and dismantle the money bailout system (which criminalizes communities of color and low-income Americans) by paying bail for those in need – one person at a time. They “won’t stop until meaningful change is achieved and the presumption of innocence is no longer for sale.”

Black Visions Collective
Operating in George Floyd’s home state of Minnesota, Black Visions Collective is a Black trans- and queer-led organization dedicated to integrating healing justice in their work, making long-term change across the Twin Cities and beyond, dismantling systems of oppression and violence, supporting Black leaders, and building thriving Black communities.
Know Your Rights Camp
Started by Colin Kaepernick in 2015, the Know Your Rights Camp aims to “advance the liberation and well-being of Black and Brown communities through education, self-empowerment, mass-mobilization and the creation of new systems that elevate the next generation of change leaders.”
Color of Change Education Fund
Color of Change is America’s largest online racial justice organization focused on four key initiatives: criminal justice, economic justice, media justice, and power & voice. Through compelling online campaigns, they’ve been able to change biased practices in industries that affect Black people’s lives most, while developing solutions that move Black communities forward.
The Marsha P. Johnson Institute
Named after the gay rights advocate and legendary drag queen Marsha P. Johnson, the Marsha P. Johnson Institute (MPJI) was formed to protect the human rights of black trans women and women of color everywhere, and works to give them complete autonomy over their minds, bodies, and futures. Through advocating and organizing, they’ve built a community of collective healing.
The Loveland Foundation
The injustices against the Black community, coupled with the COVID-19 crisis, has made mental health and healing of the utmost importance at a time like this.
